Florida wildlife and the role animals play in nature are the focus of a new summer tour at historic Yesteryear Village on the South Florida Fairgrounds.
Throughout the village’s 10 acres, tour guides provide valuable information about the importance of animals today and in the past. Guests can begin their discovery at the bait and tackle building, where they can learn how an old Florida hunting camp was used during a time when living off the land was a way of life. It’s a great opportunity to discover the relationship between animals and humans and to understand what causes animals to become extinct.
During your tour, guests will be led past historical buildings, including the general store, to a pavilion where information about Florida’s native wading birds will be provided.
Tours are two hours and begin at 10 a.m. Admission is $4 to $6. Guests are welcome to bring their own lunch and / or beverages to enjoy after the tour in the picnic area.
