Watch Palm Beach County history unfold when the building and beach complex debuts to the public with a ribbon cutting, a dedication ceremony, the sounds of 1920s music, old cars on display, fireworks off the pier and other festivities March 1. Admission to a special Speakeasy on the second floor of the building costs $50 and includes food, libations, gaming and dancing to Johnny Cool and the Mobster Swing Band. Proceeds will benefit a new beachfront clock. For tickets, call 561-533-7395. All the other events are free that evening, and so is parking.
On March 2, a family-style beach bash will take place, featuring 25-cent treats, face painting, oceanfront Ferris wheel rides and a blackjack tournament. Again, admission and parking are free.
Amenities at building and beach complex include Benny’s on the Beach, Mamma Mia’s Pizzeria, Mulligan’s Beach House Bar and Grill, Kilwin’s Chocolates and Ice Cream, and Lake Worth Beach Tee Shirt Co. The facility features a more-than-3,000-square-foot ballroom, a park, two shaded pavilions, picnic tables and benches, and bicycle and walking paths.
