The Dream Ride, the East Coast’s premier motorcycle ride and car cruise to benefit Special Olympics, will kick off in Palm Beach County this year at Harley-Davidson of Palm Beach.
Two- and four-wheeled enthusiasts from two countries and 12 states will gather Aug. 15 at the West Palm Beach landmark the night prior to the fundraising trek to Farmington, Conn. A welcoming party and rallying reception will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring Special Olympics Palm Beach County athletes and volunteers.
On Aug. 16, riders will start their motors for the 1,900-mile journey through Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York to Connecticut. The donation to join for the week is $2,500, or riders can join the pack for one day anywhere along the route for $30.
When The Dream Ride concludes, riders from 27 satellite locations all over Canada and the East Coast will gather Aug. 23 through 25 in Farmington for a weekend of food and festivities that includes automobile exhibits, live entertainment, vendors and a children’s area.
In 2012, The Dream Ride raised $340,000 for Special Olympics. The event has raised $1.7 million since its inception. For information, call 561-966-7019 or visit www.dreamride.org.
