Back-to-School Events Pile up in Palm Beach County

Back to school

The first 500 children who pass through the gates of Roger Dean Stadium in Abacoa on Aug. 10, 2013, will receive a free backpack. Children must be 15 and younger to qualify.

Palm Beach County students go back to school on Aug. 19, so the area is abuzz with school-supply drives and distribution events such as the one in the neighborhood of Jupiter homes. At the ballpark, vendor tables will be set up offering classroom essentials, and at 6:35 p.m., the Jupiter Hammerheads will take on the Fort Myers Miracle.
Tickets are $6.50 to $8.50. For information, call 561-775-1818.

Also on Aug. 10 is another back-to-school program at Jupiter Elementary School near Jupiter River Estates. Time is 10 a.m. to noon. The program targets children in need of school supplies for kindergarten through fifth grade. For information, call 561-745-3035.
